The area
stretches from the Tagus river estuary to Guincho beach
and is close to the most westerly point in Europe - Cabo
da Roca. The Sintra-Cascais natural park with its
majestic mountains casts a veil of mystery over the
romantic town of Sintra. The hills and the surrounding
area have been classified by UNESCO as a “World Heritage”
site.
Owing to a Mediterranean type microclimate, the Estoril
Coast has mild winters and an ideal summer temperature,
which never gets too hot. All beaches on the Estoril
Coast face south in a continuous line from the Tagus
estuary and are known for their calm waters and fine
sand.
In Estoril, culture and entertainment are a constant
source of relaxation and pleasure. The Estoril Coast has
7 golf courses, including the 18 hole, 72 par, 6.228 m
long course, which designed by Robert Trent Jones in
Penha Longa. The Estoril Casino is the largest in Europe
and it offers a wide variety of entertainment, including
different types of gambling, nightly cabaret and music
hall shows in a sophisticated and upscale atmosphere.
